The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA)
The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program: In 2010 the Embassy placed the first cohort of four ETAs at the National University of Laos’ Dong Dok Campus. The ETAs taught a full academic year of classes to students in the Faculty of Letters and the Faculty of Education, as well as engaging in many cultural and extra-curricular activities. In fall 2011 the second cohort of four ETAs began teaching.
Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA)
The Fulbright FLTA Program is a nine-month, non-degree program for early career (not more than seven years of teaching experience) English teachers or professionals in related fields to teach their native language in an American college or university. Candidates who are teachers in the fields of American Studies, Journalism and Media, American/English Literature, and teachers of their own language as a foreign language will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Fulbright Teaching Excellence & Achievement (TEA)
The Fulbright TEA is a six-week non-degree, non-credit customized academic program including seminars focusing on new teaching methodologies, content-based instruction, project-based learning, infusing thematic topics into curriculum, lesson planning, and instructional technology training for teachers. Intensive English language instruction will be offered to teachers who need additional practice. The program will include a practicum of at least 40 hours with a U.S. partner teacher in a U.S. secondary school near the host university to actively engage participants in the U.S. classroom environment. Cultural enrichment, mentoring, and support will be provided to participants throughout the program.
Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Initiative
The Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program is open to university faculty, foreign ministry or other government officials, and professional staff of the private sector, think tanks, and other NGOs in the ASEAN Member States. Selected Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Visiting Scholars will travel to the United States for 3-4 months, where they will carry out scholarly and professional research on priority issues to the U.S.–ASEAN relationship and ASEAN. Projects that are regional in scope and/or have clear implications for the entire ASEAN region will be considered for this program.
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is a Fulbright program that brings accomplished young and mid-career professionals with demonstrated leadership potential to the United States for a year of non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development, and substantive professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts.
