Lao-American Reading Corner Luang Prabang

Overview

The Lao-American Reading Corner, located inside the Public Library in Luang Prabang, contains almost 1,000 books and magazines selected to help visitors improve their English reading abilities and learn more about international issues such as business and economics, protection of the environment, trafficking in persons and narcotics, democracy and human rights, and current events in ASEAN countries and around the world.  It also contains materials about American people, society, values, literature, arts, sports, history, and government policies.

The Lao-American Reading Corner hosts daily English teaching programs, and hosts monthly programs such as movie and documentary showings, book discussions, and lectures on current events in the United States.

The Lao-American Reading Corner is open to the general public free of charge, and welcomes visits by government officials, academics, journalists, students, and the general public.

Location and Hours

The Lao-American Reading Corner of the U.S. Embassy, Vientiane, is located inside the Public Library in Luang Prabang, Lao, P.D.R.

Hours:

  • Monday—Friday 8:00 am—5:00 pm.
  • Saturday—Sunday: 9:00 a.m.— 4:00 p.m.
