Lao Students Learn About American Culture before Travelling to the United States

On March 16, 2015 the U.S. Embassy held a pre-departure orientation for six Lao high school students selected to participate in this year’s Southeast Asian Youth Leadership Program (SEAYLP).  The students learned about American culture, and heard from last year’s participants about what to expect during the exchange program.

SEAYLP brings together youth from across Southeast Asia for a three week course in the United States that focuses on civic education, leadership, diversity, and volunteerism.  Participants will live with American families for most of the exchange period and will have multiple opportunities to interact with American youth and educators.
