Renunciation of U.S. citizenship is a very serious decision and, once approved by the Department of State, is irrevocable. Potential renunciants are asked to carefully reflect on their decision before making an appointment to execute the Oath of Renunciation at the U.S. Embassy. An individual seeking to renounce their U.S. citizenship must show that they fully understand the consequences of what he or she is seeking to do, including losing the right to reside in the United States without documentation. They must also show that they are acting of their own free will, without undue influence from others and without reservation. We ask that you carefully review the information at the following link https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/travel-legal-considerations/us-citizenship.html
Once you understand the relevant information and conditions, you may schedule an appointment by contacting the American Citizen Services office via email at Conslao@state.gov.
Please be aware that the renunciation process requires two separate visits that are at least 48 hours apart. The first visit is to discuss the process with a consular officer and the reason for your desire to renounce your citizenship. The second visit is to complete the formalities, payment and paperwork.
The fee of $2,350 is payable in USD or Lao KIP at the time of your second and final appointment.
