The American Reading Corner Expands in Luang Prabang

An opening ceremony celebrating the expansion of the American Reading Corner in Luang Prabang was held on December 9, 2013 at the Luang Prabang provincial library. U.S. Ambassador to Laos Daniel A. Clune, Public Affairs Officer Pam DeVolder, and Mr. Ounchanh Souvannalith head of Information Culture and Tourism department in Luang prabang province, as well as more over 100 guests attended.

During the event Mrs. Chantha Souriyasack Director of Luang prabang Library discussed the history of the American Reading Corner, and talked about the current and planned activities at the Corner.  Following her speech, Ambassador Clune and Mr. Ounchanh Souvannalith made brief remarks before cutting the ribbon to officially open the expanding American Reading Corner.  Ambassador Clune also brought along educational games and office furniture to donate to the Library.
