U.S. Trainers teach technicians about the new Pathogen Asset Control System safety software.

Between July 13 and August 31, the U.S. government provided a Pathogen Asset Control System software suite to the National Animal Health Laboratory, Department of Livestock and Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry; the National Center for Laboratory and Epidemiology, Ministry of Health; and Institute Pasteur du Lao.  The software system improves the safety of lab workers and the public by carefully tracking the handling of dangerous pathogens.

A team of medical specialists and software engineers from the United States trained the Lao technicians to use the new software system. The U.S. team will continue to help the laboratories use the system by providing additional consultations and assessments over the next four to six months.
