U.S. Provides Health Systems Development and Best Practices Course

The U.S. Embassy, U.S. Pacific Command and the Defense Institute for Medical Operations, in a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of National Defense, sponsored Health Systems Development and Best Practices course in Vientiane, Laos, from July 24-28, 2017.

The Health Systems Development course focused on ways to improve patient access and benefits through education in the areas of care eligibility, disabilities and suitability, health information management, organ and tissue donation, decedent affairs, disaster preparedness, incident command and control and patient movement. The five-day course provides an opportunity for senior Lao civilian and military planners in Laos, in collaboration with health professionals from the Defense Institute for Medical Operations, to coordinate development of effective and efficient patient administration policies and procedures significantly contributing to the medical treatment facility’s ability to provide the target population with quality healthcare.

This Health Systems Development and Best Practices Course is a follow on the successful Health Systems Development and Best Practices (HSD) Course Planning Workshop held at the U.S. Embassy in Vientiane, Lao PDR in April 2017.
