United States Deputy Chief of Mission to the Lao PDR Michael Kleine presented a new Village Clinic to The Vice Governor of Xiengkhouang Province, HE Mr. Buasone Sinouanthong during a handover ceremony on May 12, 2016 in Xiengkhouang Province. Located in Nonghet District, the $589,473 U.S-funded village clinic building is on the site of existing functional Health Center. This new facility will enhance the ability of both the district and provincial public health departments to provide health services to the people of Nonghet District, Xiengkhouang province.
Speaking about the clinic, Deputy Chief of Mission Michael Kleine stated, “We are proud to be working in partnership with the government of the Lao PDR to improve healthcare facilities throughout Laos.”
Deputy Chief of Mission Michael Kleine presented the clinic to the people of Xiengkhouang Province on behalf of the American people as a sign of the expanding relationship between the two nations. The United States government has provided humanitarian assistance projects in rural areas of Laos for over eighteen years, including schools, medical clinics, irrigation systems and clean water supply systems. This school is just one of several humanitarian assistance projects completed over the last year.
